Asphalt Shingles
Finding the right shingles can be hard. A.J. Roofing & Construction is an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, and we are here to help!
Asphalt Shingles
Asphalt shingles have an average lifespan of about 25 years. While some roofs last longer, every home eventually needs roof repair or roof replacement. If your neighbors are getting new roofs, or if you see signs of damage to your asphalt shingles, it’s time to talk to A.J. Roofing about the condition of your roof.
Asphalt Shingle Repair
In many cases, asphalt shingle repair can delay a complete roof replacement. When you notice signs of damage, it’s a good idea to schedule a free roofing inspection with A.J. Roofing & Construction – we’ll send out our experts to examine every inch of your roof (we inspect the roof, gutters, and additional exterior areas) and fix issues before they become bigger problems.
How to Tell if You Need Your Asphalt Shingles Repaired
Sometimes you can tell that your roof is showing signs of aging from the ground. Here’s what to look for:
· Cracked or curling shingle edges
· Missing shingles
· Granules in your gutters or on the ground near downspouts
· Bald spots on shingles where granules are missing
· Dark streaks on your roof
· Moss growing on your roof
If you catch these problems early, before they cause significant damage to other shingles or to the structural components of your roof, you may be able to repair problem areas and hold off on a complete roof replacement. However, if the damage has gone unnoticed for too long – or the roof simply reaches the end of its lifespan – it can’t protect your home properly.
Asphalt Shingle Replacement
Because most asphalt shingle roofs are made to last between 20 and 30 years, most people schedule a complete roof replacement to prevent big problems.
When a roof starts to degrade, it can let in water and pests – and both of those can do far more damage to your home. The safest course of action is to schedule a free roofing inspection with A.J. Roofing & Construction to determine how much longer your roof is likely to last.
We’ll take photos of damage we discover, walk you through what can happen if you don’t make the necessary repairs or if you need a roof replacement, and work with you to protect your home and your family.
There Are Three Main Types Of Asphalt Roof Shingles:
Strip Roof Shingles
Strip roof shingles, which are commonly called 3-tab shingles, are the most basic type of asphalt shingles. They’re flat and look like slate, and they typically cost less than other types of shingles.
Dimensional Shingles
Dimensional shingles, which are also called architectural or laminate shingles, are becoming more common on homes all over the U.S. They’re made with two or more layers of asphalt, and they often resemble natural slate or wood shingles.
Luxury Roof Shingles
Luxury roof shingles are made from the highest-quality (and longest-lasting) materials. They’re laminated to provide a variety of appearances, and they offer strong protection for your home.
